On the 1st of May, I intend to go to Naidex for the first time. I don’t know why I haven’t been before. I unfortunately can’t go on the 2nd and 3rd thanks to final Advanced Skills presentations, but that won’t stop me from going to the first day.
I’m particularly excited about the talk from 10:30 to 11:30 on Virtual Reality Rehabilitation by physiotherapist Jon Graham from PhysioFunction. Yes, I realise I’m not a physiotherapist, but I think using virtual reality in rehabilitation can straddle the already fuzzy boundary between OT and PT. OTs can also address movement difficulties, and for some, using virtual reality and video games can be a fun, motivating, engaging activity with which to practice skills. But then, I did do my dissertation on using virtual reality with children with cerebral palsy!
Other talks I might make my way to are:
- Technology to help you around the home by Joanne Perry from 13:30 to 14:30
- Communication through technology by Nigel Lewis from 14:30 to 15:30
I bet you’ve noticed a trend…I love my technology! There are other talks on the other two days that I’d love to go to, but alas, maybe next year. I might find myself in the London exhibition in October as well.
I don’t even know where to start with the actual exhibition. I want to see everything! I’ll definitely have to check out the Sensory Room and the Ottobock Action Park.
If anyone else is going on the 1st, I’d love some competition in the action park!
